Sequence Inc. was founded in 2000, when Tracy L. Coenen, a Certified Public Accountant and fraud investigator, left a small forensic accounting firm to pursue her own business interests and fulfill her entrepreneurial aspirations. With a professional background that includes stints in the criminal justice system and at auditing firm Arthur Andersen, she has found her passion in investigating fraud. Tracy has personally investigated hundreds of frauds in a wide variety of industries, including cases of embezzlement, financial statement fraud, investment fraud, and insurance fraud. She has served as an expert witness in numerous cases in state and federal courts involving damage calculations, commercial contract disputes, shareholder disputes and criminal defense. She is not only a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), but also a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). The CFE designation is the "gold standard" for those involved in financial investigations and fraud analysis. As an expert witness, Tracy continuously demonstrates her expertise, not only on paper, but also in the courtroom. She is a skilled witness who connects with judges and juries to help them understand complex financial matters. Tracy is the 2007 winner of the prestigious Hubbard Award, given by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. The 40,000 worldwide members of ACFE voted for the best article from the 2006 issues of Fraud Magazine, and selected Tracy's article Financial Statement Fraud in the Katrina Aftermath: A Whirlwind of Opportunities as the winner. Tracy wrote Essentials of Corporate Fraud, a book that offers executives, attorneys, and auditors a chance to benefit from Tracy's real-world experience as a fraud examiner and financial investigator. She's been quoted and published in numerous business publications, including Fraud Magazine, BusinessWeek, Wall Street Journal, Compliance Week, Wisconsin Law Journal, and many more.
