Why is there no Floor 13 in many office buildings?

Scam Busting

I think it gives a false sense of security to those on the “14th Floor.” They’re really on 13, but they just don’t know it. Isn’t that a bit unfair to them? They won’t even be expecting the troubles from being on unlucky 13.

    “I’m staying at a hotel and it doesn’t have a 13th floor ’cause of superstition. But c’mon, people on the fourteenth floor, you know what floor you’re really on. If you jump out of the fourteenth floor window hoping to kill yourself, you will die earlier.”

    I always loved this one! What’s even a bit more weird is the fact that, prior to Christianity, the number 13 was a “lucky number”. Go figure………..

    residential buildings in NYC usually skip floor 13 as well
