Herbalife products offer lead supplements for children too!

Fraud News

Last week, Barry Minkow and Fraud Discovery Institute release a report that showed that Herbalife (NYSE:HLF) products contain unsafe levels of lead. The reason why people can be poisoned with Herbalife products is simple: Although each pill might contain only a tiny amount of lead, the recommended dosages of the products add up to a lot of lead.

If you’re using several of the Herbalife products and taking the recommended multiple pills each day, there’s a good chance you’re being inundated with lead.

And now it’s been revealed that even Herbalife’s children’s products contain materially excessive levels of lead. An independent laboratory tested Herbalife’s “Vanilla Kids Shake,” and found that it materially exceeds the .5 micrograms of lead allowed under California law without a warning label.

Herbalife websites have recommended kids drink 2 of these shakes per day, which would give those kids three times the amount of lead allowed by California state law.

Fraud Discovery Institute also reports that three of Herbalife’s products contain 2 or more FDA banned substances. In particular, the FDA recently reclassified Aloe from safe to unsafe. Aloe is contained in these Herbalife products: Herbal Aloe Drink Ready-to-Serve, Herbal Aloe Drink Concentrate, and Activated Fiber Table-Ox bile.

Here’s Barry getting a little wound up about the Herbalife lead issue on Neil Cavuto’s show:

I was surprised by the toxicity (and carcinogenicity) of aloe. See my website link for more info (link to a journal summary).

Oh yes! Lobbying to reduce FDA regulation of supplement makers. Always a worthwhile cause!
